Home of the Sparrow’s 2025 Holiday Giving Program Empowers the Community to Bring Hope and Joy to Families in Need

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Woodstock, Ill. (Nov 2025) – This holiday season, Home of the Sparrow (HOS) invites the community to spread hope and cheer through its annual Holiday Giving Program. With homelessness and barriers to affordable living continuing to rise, the program offers an impactful way to support local women, children, and families experiencing homelessness. Last fiscal year, Home of the Sparrow provided 65,000 nights of shelter to those right here in our community.

Community members can get involved in several meaningful ways:

  • Gift of Hope: Monetary donations that directly transform lives, providing vital resources to those in need.
  • Gift of Opportunity: Donations of essential shelter items, such as toiletries, winter clothing, and household goods from our Shelter Needs Wish List.
  • Giving Tree Program: On average, 30+ local businesses and organizations across McHenry County partner with HOS to display Giving Trees, where donors can select and purchase wish-list items for children and families. These trees can also be found in all seven HOS resale store locations.

“Each year, we see how powerful compassion can be when a community comes together,” said Holly Dorn, Director of Development at Home of the Sparrow. “The Holiday Giving Program is a reminder that even small acts of generosity can bring hope and comfort to families facing incredibly challenging circumstances.”

Donations and gifts are accepted through December 31, 2025. By supporting Home of the Sparrow this holiday season, community members can ensure that women, children, and families experiencing homelessness have a brighter holiday and a stronger start to the new year.
