This message serves as a warning that a Zombie Invasion has occurred in the McHenry County and Northern Illinois area! Fortunately, Home of the Sparrow has been able to confine the Living Dead in our restricted Zombie Zone Area; but we need your help in making sure that the Zombies don’t escape!

Gather a team of protectors and join us on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake. Race through a 5K course and be prepared to enter a mile long Zombie Zone full of the Living Dead. Zombies cannot psychically touch or chase any human. If you rather not run, you can take your chances by joining in a 1 mile walk through the Zombie Zone. A family friendly, mile long Safe Zone Walk has been created for those who rather stay clear of Zombies.

In order to protect yourself, we encourage that you dress as a Zombie or in a Halloween costume. This will confuse the Living Dead, keeping you safe. A celebratory Monster Mash Party will follow, consisting of; face painting, pumpkin painting and awards for best Zombies. Medals will also be awarded for the top three runners in each age category.

Proceeds from the Zombie 5K Run/1 Mile Walk will go directly to support Home of the Sparrow’s mission. Home of the Sparrow currently operates two shelters located in Crystal Lake and McHenry, 13 affordable housing units and 9 scattered site apartments.

Waves: 5K Run, 1 Mile Safe Zone Walk, 1 Mile Zombie Zone Walk
Times: Check-in; 7:00am, 5K Run- 8:30am, 1 Mile Walk- 9:30am
Participation Fee:  $35.00 per Individual
*5K Run participants must be at least 12 years old, all ages are welcome for the 1 mile Safe Zone Walk & 1 Mile Zombie Zone Walk
*Strollers and leashed pets are welcome on the mile walks; pets cannot enter the Pavilion Area
