Home of the Sparrow welcomes our new executive director Gene Salvadalena. He joins as a leader with
life aspirations strongly matching our mission: To provide Hope, Opportunity and Support that empowers
women and children as they journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
As of Monday, April 27th, Gene started within his new role as executive director of Home of the Sparrow.
He grew up in the Pacific Northwest and graduated with a degree in urban regional planning from
Eastern Washington University. The Salvadalena family currently resides in Cary, IL.
Gene’s professional experiences include The Boeing Company, as an industrial engineer then as the
director of community relations and later doing philanthropic work with Boeing. Most recently, Gene
was a mentor to civic and non-profit organization leaders through the Charmm’d Foundation, located in
Buffalo Grove.
Gene Salvadalena steps into the executive director position, previously held by John E. Jones who is
retiring to California. Home of the Sparrow’s Board of Directors find Gene’s non-profit and business
experience to encompass everything they sought for the new leader of the agency.
