Again this year, My Sister’s Dress is making Prom affordable for all!!! New and gently used formal attire, jewelry, shoes, purses and more are donated to the organization year-round. Area high school students are able to shop at our events to prepare for Prom- a night they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. Every student deserves to be able to go to and enjoy their High School Prom in style. My Sister’s Dress helps to break the economic barriers that often times can hold students back from their high school experiences. The organization expresses and proves how you don’t have to spend a ton of money to look phenomenal! All proceeds from the event will benefit Home of the Sparrow’s programs and services.
So bring your daughters, sisters and friends prom dress shopping on Saturday, March 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sage YMCA in Crystal Lake. Dresses will be available to purchase for ONLY $25 EACH! Affordable shoes, jewelry, purses and accessories will also be available for purchase to complete your Prom Look. In addition, attendees can participate in raffles organized by Star 105.5. Some of the prizes include a brand new Alfred Angelo Prom Dress from Shelley’s Bridal ($199 Value) and a Pearly Whites Basket from Sexson Orthodontics filled with teeth whitening and care products ($150 Value).
Spring Cleaning is right around the corner—now is the time to go through the beautiful dresses hanging in your closet and donate them to a great event supporting a great cause! If you have any gently used formal dresses, jewelry, shoes, purses, etc. that you’ve been wanting to get out of your closet, bring them to one of our Drop-Off locations! Someone else would LOVE to wear it for their special night!

Hi, I have a prom dress I’d like to donate, I’m curious though to see if it would be any value because it was altered to fit someone whose 5’3, it is a size 8. I have nobody to hand it down too and I’d rather have someone else look amazing, but I want to make sure it can help and won’t be tossed aside dude to how altered it is.
I’m quite sure there are plenty of high school girls fitting that description that will be looking for a beautiful dress to wear. You can drop it off at any of our drop-off locations! All of the dresses that do not get sold at the dress sale then get divided and distributed back to our six thrift stores to be on sale in-store. So regardless, whether it is sold at the dress sale or sold at one of our stores, a lucky girl gets a pretty dress and the profits will benefit the women and children Home of the Sparrow serves. Thanks for your interest in participating!
