Reports To: Donation and Logistics Manager
Based out of: Headquarters
Status: Full-Time or Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Logistics Manager, the Mover/Driver will be responsible for orchestrating pick-up, delivery and placement of furniture and other duties as
assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely drive agency box trucks/vans to residential and commercial locations for pick-ups of furniture and misc. donations.
- Unload furniture donations to all stores and arrange in sellable fashion.
- Manage the daily donation pick-up and delivery routes.
- Deliver and unload donated goods to the stores, shelters or other locations as needed.
- Provide excellent service by conducting yourself in a professional manner at all times as a representative of Home of the Sparrow.
- Attend meetings as assigned.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of daily pickup records and associated paperwork.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of store seasonal bin transfers.
- Assist Store Managers with tasks that may require climbing or heavy lifting.
- Monitor agency box trucks/vans overall safety by means of consistent inspections (ie: checking fluids, tire tread, leaks in box, lights, etc.)
- Responsible for keeping warehouse orderly and organized.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Logistics Manager.
Knowledge & Skills:
- High School education or higher required.
- Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
- Ability to communicate appropriately with associates and customers.
- Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to complete pick-ups & deliveries.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move and/or handle merchandise/furniture of variable weights and dimensions, generally weighing 100+ pounds safely.
- Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching are required.
- Sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time are required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to freely access all areas of the stores and shelters including selling floor, stock area, and register area
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
- Hold a valid Illinois Driver’s License without moving violations for the past 24 months and no history of DUI or reckless driving.
