Receiving Stockroom Clerk – Palatine, IL (Part-time)

Location: Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Store, Palatine, IL
Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week
Store Hours: Monday – Friday 10:00-6:00, Saturday 10:00 – 5:00 (Closed on Sunday)

We are seeking a dedicated, long-term team member for a permanent, part-time stockroom receiving clerk position at our Sparrow's Nest Thrift Store in Palatine, IL.

About Us: At Home of the Sparrow, we help homeless women and children by providing shelter, resources, and support to help them build a stable future. Our resale store helps fund these services while offering affordable clothing and household goods
to the community.

Summary: The Stockroom Clerk is responsible for receiving, sorting, storing, and distributing donated items. This role mainly focuses on processing donations and organizing items in the stockroom.

Key Responsibilities of the Receiving Stockroom Clerk:
– Greet and thank donors and customers, providing friendly and helpful service.
– Receive and process donations at the back door.
– Sort, organize, and store donated merchandise in the stockroom.
– Help restock the sales floor as needed.
– Ensure donor materials (sign-in sheets, brochures, etc.) are available.
– Assist with merchandising, displays, and general store upkeep.
– Help manage recycling and donations that cannot be sold.
– Perform basic maintenance tasks (changing light bulbs, cleaning outside trash areas, hanging merchandise).
– Follow all company policies and procedures.
– Communicate customer or donor requests to management.
– Perform other duties as assigned.
– Maintain a clean and safe stockroom
– Restock and assist with inventory
– Support and guide volunteers
– Provide excellent donor and customer service
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Basic computer skills.
– Ability to read, write, and complete simple documentation.
– Ability to communicate clearly with customers, donors, and coworkers.
– Must be able to work in all areas of the store (sales floor, stockroom, register area).
Physical Demands:
– Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
– Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
– Comfortable using ladders and moving furniture when needed.
