Home of the Sparrow is pleased to announce that a lease has been signed for a new store location at 357 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL. The new location is currently in build-out stage with an opening scheduled in May 2014. Home of the Sparrow has been operating resale stores since the early 1990s and currently has five Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Store and Donation Centers located in McHenry, Cary, Woodstock, Palatine and Algonquin. Kevin Campbell, Vice President Retail for Home of the Sparrow, states: “We are very fortunate to have such a high level of support from so many in the communities we serve. Our donors, volunteers, and customers have enabled us to evolve into a well – recognized regional chain of stores offering quality items at bargain prices. ” The Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores have been voted “Best of the Fox” three years in a row!
With the anticipated opening of the new location, Home of the Sparrow is in need of volunteers to work a variety of shifts and gently used donations like: clothing, shoes, sports equipment, jewelry and accessories, tools, seasonal items, housewares/glassware, linens, bedding, gifts, toys, lawn and garden items. Home of the Sparrow also offers “Free” furniture or large item pick up. To schedule a pick up please call (815) 271-5444 x41.
100% of the net income generated from the current five stores is used to support the agency. Home of the Sparrow operates two shelters, 19 Affordable Housing Units and has recently implemented a Rapid Re-Housing program.
With the expansion of Housing Capabilities, Home of the Sparrow will now be able to serve approximately 220+ homeless women and children in 2014. Over the past three years the number of homeless women and children served by Home of the Sparrow has increased by 120%. As you can see your support enables Home of the Sparrow to DO MORE to end homelessness!
If you are interested in volunteering or have questions about donating please call (815) 271-5444.
