The newest Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Store and Donation Center opened its doors Tuesday, July 18th in Third Lake, Illinois. With support from the Third Lake Village President, Gary Beggan, Grayslake Chamber of Commerce, GLMV Chamber of Commerce, and Craig/Steven Development Corporation, the grand opening and ribbon cutting took place at 10am in front of many waiting customers. The new store is located at 34500 N. US Highway 45 north of Washington Street and the College of Lake County.
New Store Manager, Chris Ross, stated: “I am overwhelmed with the support we have received from the surrounding community, other store managers, volunteers, and new staff. I had an amazing time showcasing our beautiful new store to all of our customers, donors, and supporters yesterday!”
Home of the Sparrow has been operating thrift stores since the early 1990s and has 6 additional Thrift Store and Donation Centers located in Algonquin, Cary, McHenry, Mundelein, Palatine and Woodstock. The Sparrow’s Nests support the mission of Home of the Sparrow, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides housing and supportive services to homeless women and children in Northern Illinois. 100% of the net proceeds from the stores directly assist Home of the Sparrow programs. The Sparrow’s Nests are also a zero cost provider of clothing, furniture and housewares to Home of the Sparrow clients and clients of other neighboring agencies in Northern Illinois.
Kevin Campbell, Vice President of Retail for Home of the Sparrow, states: “Our organization is very grateful for the warm reception we have received from the Village of Third Lake. We are very excited to begin new relationships with residents, donors, and businesses in the area. We are confident that our store will be a great neighbor to Third Lake and surrounding communities as our agency works to reduce homelessness among women and children in Northern Illinois.”
