Home of the Sparrow would like to thank the Wacaser Family & Friends Group and First United Methodist Church for volunteering their time to help Home of the Sparrow this summer!

Happy #ThankfulThursday! Home of the Sparrow would like to thank the Wacaser Family & Friends Group (first picture) and First United Methodist Church (second picture) for volunteering their time to help Home of the Sparrow this summer!

The Wacaser Family and Friends Group spent four total days in July and August at our transitional shelter pulling weeds and laying mulch all around the large property. It was a lot of hard work, and they did an awesome job! The yard, playground area and grounds around the shelter have never looked better! Thank you to this amazing group of young adults for giving of their time to improve this property. The women and children at our shelter really appreciate it and look forward to spending time outside in the beautiful yard this summer and fall!

A wonderful group of volunteers from First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake also volunteered during their Summond2Serve, on Saturday, August 1st, 2020. For the past few years, the church has devoted an entire weekend to serving community organizations within McHenry County. Home of the Sparrow was fortunate to have a group of volunteers help at one of our affordable housing units in Woodstock. They did an amazing job staining the backyard fence, picnic table, and playground set! A new family just moved into the unit and they are so happy to have a nice backyard and playground to enjoy this summer! We are all so grateful to First United Methodist Church for their generosity and willingness to help!
