Job Title: Marketing Coordinator
Organization: Home of the Sparrow, Inc.
Location: Hybrid (Office & Remote Days)

Home of the Sparrow is a nonprofit working to reduce homelessness among women, children, families, and individuals through creative strategies and community partnerships. Founded in 1987, we provide shelter, housing programs, and supportive services that help people achieve lasting stability and self-sufficiency.
General Purpose: This position is designed to create awareness and exposure of Home of the Sparrow to the Community. This role works collaboratively with a second Marketing Coordinator who focuses mostly on HOS’ retail marketing. The two positions support one another across projects, ensuring brand consistency and balanced workload. Both roles are overseen by the Development Manager. The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for preparing and publishing Home of the Sparrow publications, including but not limited to: newsletters, annual report, press releases, website updates, direct mail campaigns, email blasts, brochures, event marketing materials (posters, invitations etc.), social media, and assisting with events and development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
– Work closely with the Development team
– Develop and upkeep agency-wide print marketing materials to include the annual report, quarterly newsletters, brochures, email blasts, and flyers
– Assist with website content updates and layout changes under the direction of the Development Manager
– Draft press releases, occasional video content, and special fundraising appeals for review and distribution
– Create, schedule, and monitor content for HOS social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Constant Contact, etc.)
– Assist Events staff with design of event marketing materials (including invitations, table signs, posters, etc.)
– Assist with marketing efforts for third party events via social media promotion
– Maintain library of client stories/contacts.
– Support relationships with local printers and media outlets, assisting with coordination and communication as needed
– Attend relevant on-going training specific to the position
– Ensure brand messages are consistent across agency messaging
– Participate in community events and presentations as needed, with support and preparation from the Development team
– Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
– Having experience in public relations and fund development work is a plus
– Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and work with a wide variety of people
– Computer-literate with the ability to learn new software platforms
– A core understanding of homelessness
– Able to create flyers and graphics using Canva
– Knowledge of fundraising and promotional campaigns is a plus
– Knowledge of public relations practices and techniques
– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supporters
– Detailed management and follow-through on project timelines
– Excellent organizational skills
– Ability to assist in fostering relationships with the community, media, and funding resource leaders to ensure the existing base of resources is maintained while new relationships are developed
-Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
-Hands-on experience in marketing, retail, or nonprofit settings is a plus
