National Volunteer Appreciation Week: Thank you to all of our volunteers!

In the midst of unprecedented times, Home of the Sparrow would like to take a moment to thank our amazing volunteers during National Volunteer Appreciation Week! Our volunteers are the heart of our organization and mean the world to us. Thank you for helping us change the lives of homeless women and children in our community through your service, time, and commitment!

Today, Home of the Sparrow has 800+ active individual volunteers and over 400 group volunteers through different organizations, businesses, and schools. Combined, volunteers gave over 53,000 of their time this past fiscal year. Some of the areas volunteers help with include our thrift stores, at our shelter as a child mentor or instructor in our educational programs, at our Headquarters providing administrative help, committees such as our Board of Directors and Event Committees, events, speaking engagements through our Ambassador Program, and various group projects such as yard work and painting at our housing units.

Home of the Sparrow’s volunteer program continues to grow due to the increasing demand for services and affordable housing in McHenry County and Northern Illinois. With the addition of more affordable housing units, the partnership with Community Threads, and new programming for our residents, we are forever grateful for your help!
