Department Associate (Part-Time)

Job Title: Department Associate
Reports To: Store Management on duty
Based out of:  Community Threads Thrift Store – Arlington Hts.
Status:  Part-Time, Non-Exempt (12-25 hrs/ wk.)
Job Purpose: The Department Associate is responsible for sorting incoming donations, pricing, and merchandising.

Key Responsibilities:
-Process incoming department donations in an effective and efficient manner while maintaining quality control.
– Keep the work area clean and orderly, free of trip hazards, topples or other safety concerns.
-Maintain communication with management when items need to be sent to or retrieved from storage.
– Alert management when there is an extreme shortage or excess of inventory.
– Alert management when supplies related to the department need to be reordered.
– Transition seasonal stock.
– Understand and follow the criteria for the recycling programs.
– Assist with department-related tasks as requested.
– Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices included in the Employee Handbook & Retail Policy & Procedure Manual.
-Any other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge & Skills:
-High School education or higher required.
– Ability to process information/merchandise through register system.
-Baseline computer skills to access, input and process electronic information.
-Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
-Ability to communicate appropriately with associates, customers and donors.
-Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
 Physical Demands:
-Ability to move and/or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-30 pounds safely.
– Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching are required.
– Sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time are required.

Qualifications:
– Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area.
– Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
