Reports To: Store Management on duty
Based out of: Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Stores
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Job Purpose: A Cashier is responsible for upholding customer service, cash register operations, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, donation acceptance, and adherence to all Company Policy/Store standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that each customer and donor receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer-friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging everyone, answering the phone, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of customer Service.
- Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at registers.
- Maintain an awareness of all product locations, pricing, merchandise promotions, frequent shopper cards, and advertisements.
- Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store housekeeping.
- Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise monitoring floor stock & assists with pricing donations.
- Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and practices included in the Employee Handbook & Retail Policy & Procedure Manual.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge & Skills:
- High School education or higher required
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
- Ability to communicate appropriately with associates, customers, and donors
- Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store
- Ability to process information/merchandise through the register
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move and/or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-50 pounds safely.
- Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching are required.
- Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time are required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to freely access all areas of the store including the selling floor, stock area, and register area.
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
